Ashadh Ekadashi is an important Hindu festival observed on the 11th day of the Ashadh month. It holds significance as it is believed that Lord Vishnu goes to sleep on this day and wakes up after four months on Prabodhini Ekadashi. The Pandharpur Ashadi Ekadashi Wari Yatra in Maharashtra is a prominent pilgrimage that attracts thousands of devotees. The festival encourages self-discipline and spiritual reflection, promoting virtues like self-control and devotion.
On the occasion of Aashadhi Ekadashi we celebrated our Varakari Culture. We started our day with kirtan. We danced together in rain. Many of us played ‘Fugdi’. Kirtankar appreciated us for our working culture. He gave us many messages through his kirtan. He preached us about the virtues of pity, forgiveness and peace of mind. He also gave the message of equality, humanity. According to him, No human being would ever attain happiness in life till there was a place for God in it. No happiness would be possible till mortals made God a part of their life.
